Deal of the Summer!!

We are all very excited about the new relationship we have built with Skyline Credit rides. And to show our appreciation to both Skyline as well as our CabCorner users, we thought we would launch a limited time, promotional summer campaign to further encourage our riders to choose CabCorner when looking for transportation either to or from [...]

UberCab, Green Taxis, and other fancy stuff

For close to two years, CabCorner’s pitched itself primarily as a “cab-sharing” platform.  Yet the ever-elusive “critical mass”–which refers to the level of usage by people in the same area headed the same direction around the same time–proved as difficult for us to capture as it had to our competitors.  (Rest in peace, RidePenguin….)
So we [...]

Dilbert just LOVES CabCorner… and other research

Who would have believed that about a year before McKinney decided to breathe life into his dream, Scott Adams had already exhaled the concept in a blog post?
Yes, the creator of Dilbert envisioned a world where empty backseat real estate was a thing of the past.  Read his musings by clicking the links below.

How I [...]

Updates

Friends and Fans:
It’s been an exhausting couple weeks.  Varun finished the Phase 2 Beta development tasks and we’re reviewing the site for a few final flaws, but the platform is essentially stable.  We’ve been receiving some GREAT user feedback on the site AND on the iPhone application.
Also, am I the only one who felt shivers [...]

CabCorner acquires Hitchsters.com!!!

In a throwback to our announcement this past spring that we had acquired competitor CabEasy.com, I am absolutely thrilled to announce that CabCorner has acquired “cab-sharing industry pioneer” Hitchsters.com.
.
Founded in 2006, Hitchsters birthed an idea that captivated the internet.  The site received extensive media coverage, even finding its way onto Time Magazine’s 50 Best Websites [...]

a new competitor enters the race…

.
.
.
.
.
This evening, Varun alerted us to a story he uncovered in amNewYork…
Rather unfortunately, the title falsely asserted that newcomer Fare/Share was the “first mobile app to help riders split taxi trips.”   Yet CabCorner’s iPhone companion application was in fact the first out of the gates.  However, when I issued that complaint to Jonathan, he calmly [...]

Fun with Data (CabSense Enters the Space)

Our boy Fazal was the first to tell us about CabSense, a venture sponsored by NYC’s Taxi & Limousine Commission, which pledges to analyze “tens of millions of GPS data points from NYC taxis to help you find the best corner to catch a cab.”

Indeed, we were intrigued.  Not only was the service somewhat [...]

Ridesharing… a study in ubiquity

A friend of mine just exposed me to a new website he recently uncovered.  In truth, we’d stumbled on Zimride before, but it’s easy to forget all the players in this sector as it evolves.  What began as “cab sharing” has expanded to “ride sharing,” and clearly the public understands the concept and its value.
That’s [...]

walk21 here we are, ready to add to the collective

Cabcorner is green because it makes use of already existing structures and infrastructures to create a secondary product that not only helps to cut down on pollution and traffic, but in it of itself is something that requires no further production inputs beyond the collective participation of its users. It is an infrastructure that is [...]
