Seen through the eyes of a travel blogger

We recently received a note from Linda Hayes, a travel blogger who was interested in sharing with us her perspective on travel and transportation.  We enjoyed her angle and enthusiasm for ride sharing, particularly pertaining to the virtues of cab sharing to and from airports, that we thought we should share it with the CabCorner [...]

Dear David M.,

This is one of the best sound bites i have come across in recent memory, particularly when it comes to drawing out effective and metaphorically accurate imagery. In referring to how New Yorkers currently use cabs versus how they could be using cabs, David said…
“It’s such a waste. It’s like buying eight slices of pizza and throwing away seven,” [...]

Ride Amigos eyes STL

No, I dont think Ride Amigos is actually looking to relocate to St. Louis, MO, from their “it’s always sunny and 70 in L.A.” perch, but I do mean to point out that they are moving squarely into the Shared Transportation Logistics (STL) space. With what appears to be a relatively new position, one different [...]

Bloomberg: State of the Livery Address

Okay, so it was his 10th annual State of the City address, but he did mention something very significant regarding taxi regulation and taxi transportation in this speech.

From Yassky to Daus, Cab Sharing efforts Endure

Setting aside the issue of how to measure the success of cab sharing in NYC thus far, one thing can be surmised from the programs that have been proposed by both the current and former commissioners of the TLC, cab sharing will play an important role in New York City’s transportation future.

Fun with Data (CabSense Enters the Space)

Our boy Fazal was the first to tell us about CabSense, a venture sponsored by NYC’s Taxi & Limousine Commission, which pledges to analyze “tens of millions of GPS data points from NYC taxis to help you find the best corner to catch a cab.”

Indeed, we were intrigued.  Not only was the service somewhat [...]
