To my fellow teammates and our loyal supporters:

Merry Christmas, and a belated Happy Hanukkah!  I’m so proud to pen this year-end review of the CabCorner project.  We’ve come a long way and enjoyed so much success during our first year of operation… its all due to the hard work yall have invested, and I write on behalf of ourselves to thank ourselves wholeheartedly.

Before we review our accomplishments in 2009, permit me to offer a few updates:

MEDIA
The big news, of course, is founder Jon McKinney’s latest appearance on NY1.
‘Twas a lovely Christmas Eve accomplishment.  You might even say it glows.

The 2009 Recap
It was last spring that Sankho launched the first iteration of CabCorner.  This brilliant prototype really helped us understand our idea, allowing us to clarify our vision with the help of user feedback and vigorous debate!

Lou was, from the beginning, a rock-solid foundation of optimism and support.  He’d already locked in advertisers by the time the site went live, and his “media get” served as CabCorner’s first exposure to the market!  With his insight, CabCorner will be as valuable to urban commuters as it is to the enterprises seeking customers in the midst of this recession.  We’re eager to commercialize the platform, beginning in February 2010.

Ajay helped develop our business models, drafted an entire business plan, and refined reliable revenue streams to support our service’s ultimate nationwide expansion.  He’ll be instrumental next spring, as we formalize our investments from the VC community.  And, by the way, Ajay delivered Allison to us….

Alison has proven to be a wildly successful addition to our team, helping us enhance our citywide notoriety with a series of impressive media plays that have helped establish CabCorner’s brand as the standard in web-based cab-sharing technology.  She’s the Ace of our operation, no doubt.

Finally, of course, we couldn’t have come this far without Dave and Ben’s early financial support.  This vision is as much theirs as anyone’s, and we remain grateful for the faith they’ve placed in the project.

.

And so, after finding an app developer and a second-generation web-developer, we’ve assembled the right crew to push forward with this enterprise.  We’re soon to enter preliminary merger discussions with the founder of CabEasy, to consolidate and enhance our mutual industry positioning!

Yet not all of the credit belongs to CabCorner… some of what we’re enjoying now is an emerging cultural awareness and acceptance of the idea of cab-sharing.  For this, we’re grateful to the city government.

It’s been an action-packed and successful year, filled with publicity and positive feedback.  With 2010 peaking above the horizon, we’re ready to embrace our next round of success, in our marketing exploits, in our service to urban commuters, and in our commitment to our core objectives:

  • Reduce travel costs
  • Reduce street traffic
  • Reduce subway congestion
  • Reduce air pollution

Have a Happy New Year everybody!  Catch ya in the cab.
